Don’t you love dreaming away about the smartly dressed, handsome men in "Suits". Crazy about the humor and let's not forget Harvey Specter gifted utterances. Below, are my top five together with my interpretation.
1. Be yourself cause an original is always worth more than a copy.
Is there a difference between what you are like at home and at the office? Keep it simple. Be honest. Be yourself!
2. Don’t raise your voice. Improve your argument.
Emotions on the work floor, absolutely. I am in favor of working from a gut feeling but only in combination with a healthy business sense. Don't raise your voice if your colleague doesn't agree with your vision. Let it go sometimes. If it is really important, look for other concrete facts and expound them in a quiet manner.
3. Life has two rules: 1. Never quit. 2. Always remember rule one.
No matter how challenging it might be, keep believing in yourself and your mission. Perseverance is essential to achieve your goals and don't be diverted from your track. Everybody has their own way: keep your focus.
4. I don’t have dreams. I have goals.
The dream phase is lovely, because getting into action mode is quite tense. Maybe that is one of the reasons why we sometimes do not dare to go for it. If the dream keeps returning make it SMART (specific, measurable, acceptable, realistic and time frame). Concrete goals dictate how you turn your dream into reality.
5. Success is like being pregnant. Everyone says congratulations but nobody knows how many times you were fucked.
If it doesn't happen, don't look at it as something negative. Embrace the learning moment. As a successful business woman I don't have enough fingers to count my learning moments on.
Wishing you much Harvey wisdom.
